Removing content you see on imgsed.net

Revised

What this site can and cannot do

A word on how the page works, because it decides everything else. When a visitor types a username, their browser asks imgsed.net, which in turn has our server query a data supplier run by another company for that public profile, and the page lays out the answer. Imgsed.net keeps no copy of any photo, video or profile. That also means it has no way to hide an account or a single post: there is nothing stored here to take down.

Where content is actually removed

Content is removed at the source, on Instagram, and that then applies to every viewer at once:

  1. The owner of the account can make the profile private, or delete the post, the story or the account itself. Once Instagram stops showing it to the public, no viewer can load it.
  2. Anyone whose rights are being infringed can report the content to Instagram, by tapping report in the app, or by filling in one of Instagram’s intellectual property forms.

We still answer every copyright notice. Write to contact@imgsed.net with the word Takedown as the subject, and you will hear back within 48 hours. Under the DMCA, a notice should say which work is concerned and where you saw it, give your good-faith belief that this use of it lacks permission, give us a way to reply, and include a statement, made under the risk of a perjury charge, that the notice is true in every detail and that you either hold the rights yourself or have been authorised by whoever does. If a piece is missing, we ask for it; we do not simply refuse.

What we can change ourselves

The texts, images and design of this site are ours, so a notice about any of them is something we can act on: we correct or remove the material and tell you in writing. For content that comes from Instagram, our reply explains the routes above. If you think something of ours was removed by mistake, write to the same mailbox with a counter-notice giving your email and your reasons; we pass it to the person who sent the first notice.

Why so little is held here

This site stores no copies. Every time a visitor opens a profile, it is requested afresh through the data supplier, and it is dropped again once the page closes. Anything deleted from Instagram therefore has no way to turn up here later.
